How often do you clean your 22?

I'm of a school of thought that says 22's don't require a full cleaning each time it's used, I eyeball the action and clean if its grimy but very seldom do I disassemble it for a major cleaning. Has today's ammo reached a point where the guns need more cleaning?

If they start FT'ing or throwing flyers, then they get cleaned. It takes awhile.

I have a Glenfield 60 that hasn't been cleaned since 1977. 100's of thousands of rounds. I squirted a little oil in there a couple of times only because I felt guilty, not because it stopped working. I'm kind of afraid at this point to clean it. Might jinx it. I'll wipe down the outside though to prevent rust.

I always wipe down to prevent rust, but like olhunter I don't over clean, I don't have jams or FTF if I did I'd clean a little deeper, same with the bore if accuratsy goes away it gets cleaned.

I brush the chamber and lightly clean out any residue in action about 500 rounds. Bore gets brushed/patched around 1k rounds.

to clean or not too clean

I like to clean on a regular basis, but that's just me. I do spend a good amount of time on the range,,

I find it hard to believe that " over cleaning " is going to somehow damage my weapons,,,or wear them out,,,they washed that car 200 times to see if the crap made the bumper still look new and the car is fine,,,I believe

To each his own I guess, but I like clean and ready for use

Much like everyone else, after every use. If it just sitting in storage, I clean every month.

I don't clean mine until I get malfunctions or groups start opening up.

I guess if I was going to store one of my firearms for a while, I'd clean it beforehand, but none of mine sit for long.

I find I need to clean my 22s more often than any of my other calibers.
My takedown's barrel seems to foul if I don't clean it after every trip out and my 22/45 is a bit prone to misfeeds/ftf when it gets a bit dirty.

However I actually enjoy cleaning my firearms.
