Best optic for 10/22 takedown?

What would be your suggestion for the best optic for this platform? I would imagine $300 being my budget w/out the rings

Ive tried it with Tech Sights which would be my recommendation if you want to stick with irons but don't like factory sites.

Ive used a PA MicroDot... which was pretty fun (a buddy of mine has this co-witnessed with the MicroDot on his). I think it maintains the spirit of the TD being compact.

Small RDS like a fast fire or RMR would be pretty slick to keep the size down.

As of right now I have a Vortex PST 1-4x mounted on it... rather fun and useful setup with a 1-4x variable on the .22.

Only complaint I have with optics on the TD is size. Personally I like to keep it as light and simple as possible.

I think any low magnification scope of your choice would do the trick. Smaller the better for the TD IMO

If you are intending to keep the take down in the bag after you mount a scope, then you will need a scope that isn't longer than say about 10". Otherwise you can use quick disconnects or take off rings. For me, I modified the rail that Ruger sent with the gun in such a way that allowed me to mount a Redfield Revolution 2x7 which should be in your budget. There are models out there by Weaver and Leupold that work without any mods, however they are more expensive. So really it is personal preference as to how much eye relief you need and how you shoot. I think your budget is very fair and the Nikon Prostaff I think is too long to be able to be mounted and still fit back into the pocket in the bag and close properly.

About the only rimfire scopes that will fit in the bag are Leopold's VX-1 and FX-1 rimfire scopes.

Of interest to me because I'm trying to decide what to do with my 10/22 TD. The stock sights are not doing it for me and I'm debating between Tech Sights and a scope. Given that my eyes ain't getting any younger I'm probably better off with a scope.....
