My question is this, if I were to get a dedicated 22LR pistol or rifle is the only safe bet to get bolt action to use any ammo? I have a ton of CCI standard velocity and federal bulk. I just fear investing in a cool gun and then not working
sure the safest bet is to get a bolt action, but that doesnt mean you can't find a semi-auto like your conversion bolt. Its not a sure thing, my CMMG conversion bolt would not cycle reliably with anything less then 40gr.

My Walther HK MP-5 so far has had no issues with any ammo. Others report trouble with 36gr standard.

The best thing about the Walther HK MP-5 is you can adjust the blow-back to use any ammo. I think that is where people are having issues, not understanding how to adjust that.

To my knowledge the ATI GSG are not blow-back adjustable and therefore if your particular one doesn't like a certain ammo you are stuck with that.

thanks all for the input . I saw the thread on adjusting the AA kit, but heard that voids the warranty. I am just fearful of adjusting it and breaking it while voiding the warranty.

On the other topics, I am still eyeing getting either a ruger mark iii pistol or CZ 455 rifle based off of the threads on this forum. I dont see many available in bay area private firearm sales, so I may have to check LGS

I have had the AA Conversion Kit for my G23 for a few years now and initially had issues with it being picky with ammo. Anyway, a while back I found this mod to the mags which fixed the ammo issue. See the following link and scroll down: http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/show...1009833&page=2

I did this mod to all my AA mags and the kit has been 99% reliable and feeds, fires, cycles, ejects most .22LR ammo that I've fed it including Remington, Aguila, CCI, Federal and Winchester bulk ammo (with the exception for Aguila Super Colibri and CCI Quiet-22 for obvious reasons and an occasional round that I suspect may be defective from the factory). Anyway, good luck and hope this helps.
Good find. Scroll down to post 49

A bolt 22 is not your only choice, actually.

Any action type which is 'manually operated' won't know the difference between a 'Colibri' low noise/pressure round, and the strongest of 'extra power' 22's.

The optimal choices wont be 'cheap' these days......if you like the lever action, look for a Marlin 39A, if the 'feel' of a slide-action appeals to you, look for a pre-64 Winchester model 61 or 62, or a Remington model 12 or 121.

There are cheaper 22's, to be sure......some work surprisingly well, others are 'gambling devices' which may work well, or may have failures of cheap stamped-tin internal parts....... 'theres no free lunch'.

If you like 'precision', and would prefer to get a new rifle, ask here about bolt 22's......there are some very good ones being built today.....Kimber, Anschutz, etc., but ask about the first-hand experience of the folks here.

            cheers

            Carla
