Off topic but I regret selling off my 1894 Cowboy Limited II and 336 CSS, especially since the older Marlins jumped up in price and now so hard to find

1 of my favorite 22 rifles is my H001T.

if you want to save some cash and don't mind the plastic get the henry. If you want something with some history find yourself a marlin 39 or winchester 9422. The winchester is pretty costly. All are awesome guns and can't go wrong with whatever you choose.

also the henry has a shorter barrel but is still a tack driver.

ithaca 79 is another alternative, never heard of it but used to shoot the single shot 49 model.

I had an H001 and it had a metal barrel band and front sight. The only plastic on it was the follower. My biggest turn off was the painted receiver. It scratches and chips if you are not careful.

I would look for a used Marlin 39 as the new ones have had issues since Remington took over Marlin.

Ithaca 72 is the 70's "original version" of the henry. IIRC made in Germany by ERMA. The problem with getting an Ithaca 72 is that the asking price is generally pretty close to that of a new Henry, so unless one is looking for the 72 specifically "new is better".

                      Win 94/22
                      Marlin 39a
                      Henry GB
                      ....in this order!

                      I love my Win 94/22

It took me years to train the gun to pose this way!

just put a Henry H001 22lr in jail today..it just felt right..22lr 22, 22 short, and on the HRA website it specifically states "left handed shooters can safely use any of our lever action rifles", which I am. I can't believe the stock on this one..its almost like a dark zebra wood..the salesaman said "if you are getting the Henry get this one, and pulled one out of the rack from the back.
