Light Weight Scope for 10/22

My custom build 10/22 has a Sightmark 2.5-10x scope on it. The scope is a pig at 21.5oz. The rifle is top heavy so I need something lighter. I've been looking at Leupold's VX-2 3-9x40 at 8.8oz. Is there anything else around that weight?

For a hunter/plinker I would go with a rimfire scope like an 8.5oz VX-1 2-7x28, or even a Weaver RV7 2.5-7x28. On the other hand if you plan fine target shooting Weaver RV9 3-9x32 w/AO ($230) is an excellent scope, or if you want to spend the money a Leopold VX-2 3-9x33 w/AO for $400. The Leopolds are smaller and marginally better, but the Weavers are very good scopes for a lot less money.

I run 17oz Weaver V24 6-24x42 w/AO on my more serious target 10/22s. You might also consider a V16.

Remember that the RV9 has an adjustable objective so you do need to stop and focus, that said it's a darn good little scope.

There is also a Leupold VX-2 Ultralight 2-7 that works well for me. I don't see any point in more than 7X magnification on a .22.

I have Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40, it weighs 15oz.
