22 magnum bolt rifle action question

What company makes or made a 22 magnum bolt action tube fed magazine rifle? I saw one at Cabela's a year or so ago in the used rack and didn't buy it.
I don't remember what make or model number it was.

prob. a Marlin 783, 16 rounds in the tube. Also Remington had a tube feed Mag. model unk. what model. Out of all the Marlin was a superior model.

Sounds like that what I was looking at the tube mag was long, even had a scope. Price was $140, cheap by Cablea's standards. Still kicking myself fer not getting it, went back 2 days later and it was gone. Other rifles and shotguns on the used rack have been there close to a year due to thier steep pricing for used guns!

Marlin XT-22 magnum. Tube fed, bolt action, stainless or black. Nice rifle for a nice price. Loads of fun too.

Marlin has had many older bolt action tube fed 22MAG.
The modern version is the XT-22.

Beautiful rifles (too nice to shoot!) but I was hoping for something in the C&R catagory.

If it was me, I'd take some time googling the older marlin model numbers and see what's what.

Like I said the XT-22 is just the modern version of previous models.
The 783 & 883 listed above would be a good start to trace their lineage

BTW since the 22WMR was introduced in 1960 that only leaves you a window of 3 years that would be C&R eligible unless its a make and model listed as C&R...

Yep I screwed up by not mentioning the C&R bit, sorry guys. But some good starting points have been passed along so I can begin my research.

Googling says that the 883 (and 882 magazine fed) were made from 1960-69.

For Marlin Rimfire Rifles [non-serialized]:

From 1962 thru 1968 Marlins rimfire rifles (other than the 39 series lever actions) used a two letter date code that was stamped on the barrel. This date code is different than the one already listed, as Marlin rimfire rifles (other than the model 39 series) did not have a serial numbers until required to by Law after 1968. The first letter of the date code represented the month of manufacture while the second letter indicated the year. This date code was usually stamped on the left side of the barrel just in front of the receiver. The first letter of the date code is as follows:

A = Jan.
B = Feb.
C = Mar.
D = Apr.
E = May
F = June
G = July
H = Aug.
I = Sep.
J = Oct.
K = Nov.
L = Dec.

The second letter of the date code is as follows:

F = 1962
G = 1963
H = 1964
I = 1965
J = 1966
K = 1967
L = 1968

So a date code of "JK" would indicate that rifle was made in October of 1967.

Huh? Where did you find that?

The 883 replaced the 783 which was made into the 80's.
