I have to agree that the Ruger SP101 is an awesome substitute for the expensive S&W

Nothing wrong with a Ruger and yes S&W are expensive but I have 2 S&W revolvers (R8 and 617) and the quality is top shelf

I'd get the Ruger Single. Eats ANYTHING, you can switch calibers/cylinders, and you won't waste as much ammo.

I'm starting to sound like my Grandad.

for fun, nothing beats the ruger bearcat.

it's a tough question however. because "best" means many things. the bearcat is the neatest little 22 revolver to shoot. accurate enough but just awesomely cool and fun. my boys love it. I do too. gotta shoot it to understand.

however, more accuracy can be had in the single six/nine whatever models. double action revolvers can help with training for a 38/357 though.

a 22 revolver should be first and foremost fun to shoot. and my vote is the bearcat. if I need a tackdriving 22, I'll get a MkIII bull barrel or browning buck mark. they're fun, but not like that little bearcat.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

Can't beat an older Smith, even the newer ones aren't that bad. I don't buy into the, they are all messed up mind set and believe there are many current owners that are very happy, it's just the bad things always tend to get dragged thru the internet muddddd.

I spend a lot of time looking at 22 revolvers, I go camping a lot and it is my carry of choice out there for things like rats and snakes. For me personally, I like single action 22s. Because rimfire requires more punch then centerfire, none of the double actions ever feel good. My vote would be for the classic colt army single action revisions. Heritage (Rough Rider), Ruger (singlesix, single10, bearcat) are great.

If you can afford the SP101 ruger double action I hear that one is pretty smooth but a crazy pricetag for a 22.

I say for the price the older High standard pistols are great shooters.

My favorite .22 revolver is a Dan Wesson with a 4 inch barrel. Next would be my K-22 Masterpiece with a 6 inch barrel. Both are older models and no longer in production. Not sure how much they would go for today.

                        Currently?
                        Single action...................Ruger single six
                        Double action...............Ruger 101

*Or look around and try to find a older model S&W 617?
I've had mine for nearly 25 years and it still shoots as good as the day I got it!
