    is it legal?

Quick question and yes I checked the flow chart.

Is the S&W MP15-22 rifle legal in California?

    Thanks in advance

Apparently you didn't read over it too well, if you did check the flow chart.
    Rimfire ≠ Centerfire

    Look at #6

I thought so. Just missed #6. Because it is a rim fire you can have all the goodies.
      Thanks again

Yes, rimfire can have any and all features and have a OAL of 26" because the current wording of the law says Semiautomatic Centerfire.
        No problem.

30515. (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, "assault weapon" also
        means any of the following:
        (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to
accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following:
        (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action
        of the weapon.
        (B) A thumbhole stock.
        (C) A folding or telescoping stock.
        (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.
        (E) A flash suppressor.
        (F) A forward pistol grip.
        (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine
with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.
        (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length
        of less than 30 inches.

I'm sure that we all have missed some point or other when going thru the list. That's what make Calguns such a great organization, we have the help we need thru this forum.

One weird thing, sometimes a LGS will get a 15-22 that is set up for a state with more restrictions than CA - I got a 15-22 with no flash hider (non-threaded barrel) which I preferred, but the collapsible stock was pinned, from the factory that way. That certainly wasn't needed for California (and about a 30 second 'fix' to remove the pin :-)

Thats the part that confused me. I see them advertised with pinned stocks, no flash suppressors, even one with a bullet button. If there not needed then way? Maybe that was the only ones available at the time.
