    .223\.22 conversion kit

    Good afternoon,
I stumbled on this coversion kit this morning. Has anybody use it or one like it and what are you thoughts on it?

    Thanks

The CMMG conversion bolts have been discussed quite a bit here, shouldn't be too tough to search out some threads. That said, I'm not sure this will work for you unless Wideners will convert the 25-round mag into a parts kit for you, since we can only use the 10 round mags here in Cali (unless you're grandfathered, but if you were, you wouldn't be asking this question).

All conversion kits have their pros and cons. I am not a fan of them personally. It could be argued they wear your barrel with the extra fouling you get from filthy 22 ammo. For once in a while fun I see no harm and the quality is really no different than any of the conversions. It may be in your best interest to get a dedicated upper with a barrel specifically set up for 22 (proper twist etc.) and go that route. Will cost 100-400 more depending on how crazy you want to get with it.

For what it's worth, saw exact same kit at Ontario show earlier this month for $255. It was in a molded plastic package with the mag disassembled. Then again also saw a similar kit online for $170 that sold out in minutes.

Blackdog makes great 10 round magazines that look like Vietnam Era 20 rounds magazines.

The conversion kit's aren't bad but since the barrel's twist rate was designed for 223/5.56 don't expect great accuracy at far ranges.

For the money's worth I'd spend a little more and get a dedicated 22 upper.
