Savage 64fxp rear nut(behind the trigger) locked tight problem

I recently picked up a savage 64fxp and like any new gun proceeded to clean it,upon dissassembly i discovered the rear nut was locked down tighter than fort knoxx,anyway i took it to my local gunsmith hit armory awesome awesome guys and they suggested torching the nut because it may have lock tight and that savage has a rep of overtightening screws,now what i ask from the community,is there any other way than torching the nut to get it loose,ive tried bathing it in lube,hammering it but no dice and ended up scraping myself with a screwdriver.

I have the same thing. I ended up breaking the trigger set. I called Savage and they replaced it with a new one.

got myself a impact driver and am gonna try the "heat it up with a heating gun then torque it" xD

I just took mine apart to swap out the springs for the ones from MCARBO. That screw was on tighter than the others, but I was able to get it off - looked like it had loctite on it.
Heat should do it, but still...

Just sent it back to savage today,now it's a waiting game,sad part is didn't even get to shoot it yet xD

Hang in there R.O.K, I know once you get to the range with your Savage you'll be glad you bought it. But I do understand how your feeling!

I have one and no problem with the screw.
Glad the rest of you like your 64 because mine is a jam-o-magic.
I have 5 mags and if I put 10 rounds in, the first 3 rounds either won't feed or eject properly. Putting only 7 rounds in the mag is fine.

2nd time it's been sent back to Savage for the same issue.
