    22 short rifles

I have a TON of 22 short CB CCI that my beretta wants nothing to do with. Of course, the way to remedy this is to buy a new gun!

I have my heart set on a rifle. Been reading that tube fed 22lr will spit out 22 shorts with no problem- does anyone have experience with this?

Does anyone know of any dedicated 22 short rifles that are a good buy? When I was looking for ammo, I'd ask for 22 short and the most common response was "what firearm even shoots 22 short?" I would like something that has the ability to mount a scope on it at some point. I am an avid can hunter and would like to nail em from a distance

    Thanks so much guys!

There's a few older semi auto tube fed rifles that shot all three, .22 short, .22 long, and .22 long rifle. I think the dedicated .22 short guns were referred to as gallery guns because of the old shooting galleries. I have a remington that shoots all three but I've never actually shot it, so I can't attest to how well it operates.

You'll probably have to get a bolt action rifle or a pump. Most semi-auto .22's may not cycle a .22 short.

I use an old Remington Model 12 pump.

My Win 62, Rossi 62, and Rem 552 Speedmaster all shoot shorts very well.
The 552 Speedmaster is a semi.
The Rem 572 is also great. It's a pump.

I personally converted my CZ 452 into a single shot 22lr and it shoots the shorts just fine.

If you're looking for a new rifle - look at the Marlin XT-22TR. It's a tube fed bolt action that will shoot .22 shorts. I have one and it shoots quite well.

Henry Lever Action will do what your looking for.

The H1 Classic lever action rifle fires .22 S/L/LR or .22 Magnum, ships from Wisconsin, and leads .22 lever action sales worldwide.

What distance are you talking about? You're using CB rounds!

My Remington 552 Speedmaster feeds them all shorts, long,& long rifle. Also I think any both action would work. Remember if you shoot a bunch of shorts you'll need to run a brush thru it so it will chamber the rest.

My Marlin 39 (mfg 1961) has no problem feeding shorts.

It's also a quality rifle that's fun to shoot.

I've got a Remington Model 12 "Gallery Special" with the full octagon barrel and it's chambered for .22 short only. Unfortunately, it's completely gone to seed. rusted out like crazy. It was given to me by a friend who stored it in a non-climate controlled environment. He was gonna just trash can it. I was planning to try to restore it, stip the metal down and refinish it and send it off for relining. I've basically been on the fence because just the cost of relining the barrel is close to what one sells for on gunbroker.

+1. Love mine - shoots shorts, longs, CCI Quiets and of course LR. Cost less than $200 (at least last year.)
