Spending $$ on a nice scope for a rifle is like investing in good glass for a DSLR camera. Many people run scopes that cost as much as the rifle...if not, even more.

I'm a big Weaver fan myself as they represent exceptional quality and value for the money, but at $105 shipped, this Sightron 3-9x32 would also be an excellent choice:

Nikon P-22 2-7x32mm - I had on my takedown - it also has the BDC 150 reticle for 22lr, and its a little smaller than the Prostaff 3-9x40 already mentioned.

Thanks for all the input and recommendation guys.

I just mounting a scope onto the 10/22 last night after the rings came in the mail.

I decided not to put as much magnification on it as I originally set out to do... Having had a micro RDS on the rifle I figured I would miss the close up action shooting if I had magnification on the low end so I put a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x scope on it. From a cost standpoint its a bit overkill for a stock 10/22 but I really like the optic for what I plan on doing with it.

I think I might need to upgrade the stock or build my own kydex cheek rest... I've always had issues with the comb with any optic I've used.

            Just ordered this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

            for my 10/22 Talo

figured it would match nicely and it's a plinking toy so dumping money into an optic wasnt a necessity

I really like Nikon's ProStaff rimfire scopes. My buddy has one on his 10/22 and for the price, the quality is awesome. FOV and eye relief are good, and the glass quality makes for a clear and bright view. Control knobs could be a little better (bigger, more audible/tangible clicks), but for the money its sweet. I'm hoping to pick one up for mine.

SWFA SS 6x42 just came in yesterday, I'll be heading to the range tomorrow to zero it.

Is that going on your 10/22? Did you get the MOA/MIL or MIL/MIL scope?

My only real gripe with SWFA is their MOA scopes... which come with a MIL reticle. I wish they made a MOA/MOA version.
Yup, going on my 10/22. I got the mil/mil with the mil-quad reticle. It's my first SWFA, but I really like the quality of build and glass so far. The reticle is kinda 'meh', but I actually like the finish better than the finish on my Bushnell G2DMR. Though the Bushnell does feel sturdier, and it certainly ought to at 4x the price.

For my intended use, shooting .22lr at 100-300 yards as a long range trainer, I don't think the fixed SWFA line can be beat for the price.

Nice pick for a 10/22 target scope.

Personally I like the SWFA reticle… it’s a nice change of pace from the standard mildot scopes.

Bushnell G2DMR is a fantastic optic. Another scope on my list of things I want and don’t need right now.

I actually don’t have too much range time with any of the fixed power or non HD SWFA scopes, but from the ones I’ve played with on other peoples rifles, they look well worth the money.

Both my SWFA SS scopes are the HD model scopes in FFP. The glass on those are simply amazing in its price bracket. I compared my SS HD 5-20 to a Nightforce NSX 5.5-22x50 and the glass on the SWFA was better. I dare to say my 1-6x SS HD glass is ACOG level (4x vs 4x).

I’m on the edge of getting a 10/22 takedown… just to give me a little motivation to turn my existing 10/22 into a nice little target setup.

As of right now, the Vortex Viper PST 1-4x scope really fits the bill application wise… Mix of plinker and target with the option for fast action shooting when I feel like it… I do feel a little funny with a $500 scope sitting on top of a $230 rifle lol.

Did that fit into the TD bag when it was mounted?

Or did you use QD rings?
