    Ruger 10/22 scope ring question

I am in the process of changing up the optics on my 10/22. Currently I am using the factory scope base and a Primary Arms Micro RDS.

The 10/22 in its factory configuration and want to mount a scope that has a 30mm tube diameter (Vortex Viper PST 1-4x).

Any recommendation for a set of rings and the target height?

I have used DNZ in the past on my Rem 700 but most of their 10/22 mounts don't include many 30mm option. I only see 30mm high mount.

The factory scope mount and RDS is a bit high to allow for a comfortable cheek weld, and im not sure what height rings I really need, or what to get...

Check out the EGW picatinny rails. For rings I went with some low UTG Max strength LE grade quick detach rings. Yea I know the rings are not of the best quality but they are really solid, hold zero, have that Tac look, and only cost me $25 on amazon. I read tons of reviews on the rings and couldn't find a negative so I tried them. With my Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40mm I have about 1/8 inch clearance between the bull barrel and objective. With the 1-4x vortex you don't have an objective to worry about an so you can go with the extra low rings probably.

Replace the factory base and invest in quality quick release detachable rings...of the appropriate height.

I used a Ruger 10/22 Long See-Through Scope Mount and some Leupold Quick Release Weaver Style QRW Rings to mount my Weaver RV-7. It's a 1" tube diameter but the Leupold rings also come in 30mm.

Edit: I used this sticky to determine the height needed for my rings (low) and the Leupold website to determine the height of low/med/high (bottom of the page)

The factory scope base is fine, I'd just use Burris Signature Zee rings on either the factory Weaver base or an upgraded Weaver or Leopold base.

I ditched my Burris Zee Signatures for some Leupold QRW rings.

I had a thread about this a couple of months ago. I bought the weaver above and Leupold rings here. I am quite satisfied. My scope is rock solid.

I really like those little Leopold Rifleman rings on a 10/22 but the OP is hanging a $500 30MM scope scope on his and if he's doing that he may as well go whole hog and go with the Signature Zee.

If the cheaper rings will do the job, then spending more money won't do it any better.

I am not seeing this style ring in 30mm... I think thats what sholling was trying to get at.
