6-24x50mm Barska Excavator with illuminated target dot mini review

Well my very inexpensive scope arrived today. I don't pick the rifle up till the 23rd so this is just my initial impression of this bargain basement scope.

    Model: AC10556
    Price: 129.99 -5% military discount

Included flip cap: They cap and they flip. They dont seem water proof but do keep out dust. I might buy butler creeks down the road.

Included Rings: Could be bb gun rings. They are very basic. I think I'll be buying a one piece mount like I have on my 10/22

Sunshade: very thin. It would probably go out of round if dropped on a hard surface. The flip cap falls off the end of the sunshade. I did a few layers of electrical tape and it fixed the issue.

Barska labeled Cleaning rag: its very raggy

Extra battery included for the scope

The scope itself: Its big seriously. The finish appears nice enough. The ao is stiff but smooth so is the magnification. The windage and elevation turrent have a tad bit of slack before they click but as long as the adjustment is accurate I won't worry about it. The click itself is very positive. The IR is visible at setting 1 and gets brighter all the way to setting number 11. The cross hairs look nice. Now the clarity is ok. Not bad for 129.99 but not as good as my mueller which was the same price. I will of course post more when I zero it and change the mag setting to see if it keeps it zero through it range.

    Thanks,
    Barry

Oh that was just too easy to read the title as "6-24x50 Barska Excrement".

At least the illumination goes up to 11?

Seriously though, if you're going to bother mounting it and shooting, you might as well include a box test to see if the turrets do actually work worth a crap. Maybe they will, maybe they won't.

Well I don't mean just fiddling with the turrets, I mean an actual box test. Something like this: http://www.riflescopeblog.com/2008/1...-tracking.html

You'll find out if the turrets are accurate(is 1/4moa or whatever per click really always what it claims to be?) as well as being able to return to zero.

Like I said, if you find out the scope works well for you, that's fine. My jabs are at barska, not you.
