Ruger 22/45 questions and first impressions

So I got my new toy out of jail today and noticed a few things...
First of all the bolt stays open on the last shot, that is nice. But you can't just put in another magazine and release the bolt. You have to pull the bolt back a little, release the button and let go of the bolt. On my Sig I just put in the magazine and touch the slide release. I wonder why they did that?
I can live with that but what I dislike is the texture of the bolt where you grab it to rack a round. It is like they made it as sharp and uncomfortable as possible. I was just checking the gun out and I now still have indentations on my fingers. I know I am a sissy but I also want my wife to shoot it and she won't like the razor like ridges.
Not just venting. I guess my questions are. Am I right about the bolt release? Can something be done about the razor edges?
Love the piece otherwise. For $279 shipped it seems to be a great value. Trigger seems crisp even though there is a lot of slop before it engages.
I will get to shoot it Saturday. I hope I get some comments from others that have it.

And invest in a UltimateClipLoader.

Ditto on the UltimateClipLoader, also look into the bushing that let's you remove the magazine disconnect parts so the magazines drop free.

These guns loosen up a lot after a few thousands rounds/few dozen breakdowns. Go on over to RFC like uxo said. You'll find it has a MUCH better trigger pull after the magazine safety is gone. Congrats on a great .22!

Ok, that worked but it took two hands the first few dozen times I did it. I held the gun in such an akward position the slide took a piece of skin. Now it drew blood...
But after doing the slide a hundred times it is getting a little easier.
Still don't like the sharp edges.

Send the frame to kingshouse on rimfirecenter to get the grip mod done. It improved the feel of my pistol !00 percent.

Congrats on a great pistol. Like the others mentioned, get the UCL. Then get rid of the mag disconnect. And then the slingshot mod. I just did the gravity slingshot instead of torsion/coil spring. But I found that I had to sand then polish my bolt stop where it rubbed on the frame for the bolt to slingshot reliably. These pistols are great out of the box, but to me, modding it is almost as fun as modding a 10/22
