    SIG P226 22lr conversion

First off, I didnt know where to post this thread (handgun or 22lr section) but I figured I'd post here since this is where it matters. A couple weeks ago, I picked up an 89 West German and couldn't fathom paying for 9mm rounds during these time.

    My solution:

After chasing down my postman and signing off on my package, getting home and like a kid on Christmas day, I put the two together and couldn't wait to get to the range. Let me tell you all, this thing is a must have if you own a P series SIG. Its accurate, fun, and CHEAP...of course if you can find ammo. I shot only CCI rounds and had only 1 round out of 50 not chamber correctly. I just pushed the slide forward and continued. I'll be going again to enjoy my new "gun."

I've got a P Sig 9mm as well and have been thinking about what you just did - purchasing the .22lr conversion slide. I can't afford to train between the matches I shoot in so that seems to be the way to go. Perhaps a Xmas purchase for me.

    Congrats on your purchase!

My old SIG P210-2 9mm spends most of it's time with the factory 22 conversion mounted on it---shoots like a target pistol!

I have on on my 226 and it runs really well. The only problem is that the magazines are really expensive and there's no speedloader. So you'll spend a lot of time reloading. Which admittedly is not such a big deal with today's low round counts, but something to be aware of.

Oh, and it dumps .22 crap all over the gun - probably makes cleaning more important than otherwise.

Funny, I was just looking at these conversions last night. They look great.

Where did you snag yours from? Everyone seems to be sold out (no surprise.)
          Please, calm down.

To follow along with the mags are expensive, I also find the thing likes to be ran wet with oil, not grease like I run with the centerfire rounds.

Also, I did pick up the upgrade followers that physically block the slide back when empty. The factory slide stop doesn't auto-engage on the conversion. So, those little pieces add up in price on the magazines.

Bought mine in January, went to Turners looking for a 22 pistol for the boy to shot and found the conversion kit instead. Very happy with it, well lubed it shots nothing but bulk standard volicity round nose out of it, only hicups when it gets very dirty.

I got mine on eBay for 297. At the gun range yesterday, they have it for 399...ouch.

And yes magazines for them are unbelievably expensive. But I was wondering, do Mosquito magazines work?

Yes, the magazines like most Sig magazines are expensive! Sadly, the Mosquito magazines are completely different.

Its really does feel like a target pistol in the hands. Once I go back to the 9mm slide and barrel its a whole other story.

But I do want to share that, it really really made a difference in my shooting just that first day. I shot with the 22lr first and my grouping was perfect at 7 yards. Went to the 9mm and stayed the same. Mind you that I've only had the firearm for 3 weeks and its already been a big help.

Congratulations. Too bad they don't make one for the P225.
