IMHO, there is no such thing as blasphemy, when you take an old forgotten rifle and fix it up for your kids to enjoy. They will own it and it's history will be special to them. Think about it. In 50 years, what will be "worth" more to them, a pristine sample of that same rifle, or the one that their Dad fixed up and gave to them?==================
