Range Report -- New Henry H-001

I recently picked up a new Henry H001. I decided to equip it with a Nikon Prostaff 3x9 40 scope. (My review of the scope is http://www.amazon.com/review/R28MHUK...cm_cr_rdp_perm )

The rifle shot wonderfully well. I was using some VERY mediocre ammunition, Centurion .22 LR LRN to be exact. While not bad, this is not exactly target ammunition. Nonetheless, the Henry did itself proud at the 25 yard limit of our local range. This is 30 rounds at 25 yards:

Really loving my Henry H001. The action is buttery smooth, and has there ever been an easier rifle to clean after shooting? This is a very nice precision firearm that has to be regarded as the ultimate plinker...

Nice shooting. I have a Simmons scope on my H001 and do almost as well. I usually shoot sillouettes at 50 yds. Lots of fun.

I didn't scope mine but I doubt there is a more fun gun to shoot.

Henry's are about as fun as it gets with a bunch of cans set up and the tube stuffed full of .22 shorts.

I haven't tried 22 shorts yet, but I will. Neat that it can fire 22 short and 22 long as well as 22 LR.

Henry's are the best! I got the Varmint Express, .17 HMR. I put the large loop on it. Badass!

Just bought one. I'm waiting on the 10 day wait now. A super well built rifle for the money.

One of the best presents a father could give his son. It is a rifle he will always remember.

Totally agree. I gave my son a Golden Boy .22LR for making Honor Role at school. He doesn't know it but I am also going to have an engraved sideplate made for him.

Well, My H001 arrived and I took it out on the ranch for it's maiden voyage. Right off, the fit and finish is no hype. The rifle is built so well it's hard to believe they can sell them for what they do.. The cycling was the snootiest of the lever actions I have purchased. The wood was beautiful and finished like a craft project. Bottom line is the Henry's are like buying a custom rifle without paying for the extra time into building it. I am going for the .17 and the 30/30 as well. Even the edges of all the parts your hand or fingers touch were smooth and clean,, no roughness or sharpness. IN fact, of all the firearms I have purchased, it is the finest craftsmanship out of the box than any other. I have no idea if they sell their rifles to discount stores and maybe they are different? But I can guarantee if you buy one you will be more than pleased. These are heirloom quality and you children will be shooting it when they are grandparents. It shoots as well as it feels and looks.
