Savage Mark II FSS or Henry Lever Action?

So... I'm looking at picking up another .22lr, and have pretty much narrowed it down to the Savage Mark II FSS or a basic Henry Lever Action. However, I haven't actually shot either. If I could find the Henry in a stainless steel (I know, sacrilege to many of you) I'd jump on it. Anyway, here is the question: given the pros/cons of both of these guns, and given the sea of possible/pending gun grabbing bills proposed here in California, which of these two guns would you recommend and why? Or is there another bolt action or lever action that you would recommend instead for a competitive price? FWIW, I prefer to shoot with optics instead of iron. Thanks!
    Regarding the 2nd Amendment:
"...to disarm the people ― that was the best and most effectual way to enslave them." George Mason ("The Father of the Bill of Rights")

    Regarding Life and Death:
"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." Matthew 10:28

The BIG question: "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?" Matthew 27:22b

Well, if you want to shoot with optics, get the Savage. If you like irons, the lever is the way to go. Personally between the two, I'd get the Henry. Lever actions are just too much fun.

I am shooting my Henry H001 .22LR (a lever action, obviously) with a nice scope, and loving it. You cannot go wrong with a Henry! Very accurate, even shooting cheap Centurion ammo.

      30 rounds at 25 yards:

One cool thing about lever actions is that since the gases from the rounds do not power the action, everything stays super clean. After shooting just clean the barrel and that's that.

I had both the Henry and the Savage. Only have the Henry today. Put a small red dot from a air pistol or a small scope that is not too thick and it is smooth and light. Much better plinker than the Savage.

I have one Savage Mark II and two Henry .22s. The Henrys are my favorite plinking rifles. The H001 has a Hi-Viz front fiber optic sight and a Marbles tang peep sight on the rear. The H001Y has front and rear Hi-Viz sights.

Ever consider the browning?? I know they are more money, but the action is far smoother than the henry/savage. I played with all three of them and decided on the browning...it just took a while to get it. If you are looking to stay American on the build, then henry.

I have a couple of henry's. And they are really fun to shoot. You can put a scope on it if you want

I have both. I've hit an 8" target with a Henry lever action using iron sights. It will stay scopeless because it's so fun to shoot as it is. The MkII is fun to shoot too. Mine has a scope. I say buy one and get the other one later.
