Why are they so hard to find?

I'd like to find a 16.5 inch barrel but there seems to be zero stock everywhere.

Green Mountain barrels seem to be the best bang for the buck. Anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure of your budget, but KIDD has a few 16.5" barrels to choose from. I believe they are in stock as well.

Take a look at the EE over at rimfirecentral. Always some barrels there along with everything else. Home of the 10/22!

Contact Green Mountain directly and ask them if they have any "scratch and dent" barrels. They usually have a decent amount on hand and you won't be able to notice the "damage" to these barrels, purely cosmetic.

Just a thought.. I have paid $80 to $100 shipped for multiple GM barrels, from 16" to 20"-both fluted and reg. bull.

Do you want light weight or heavy weight? ER Shaw makes a nice barrel, but very heavy. Lightweight barrels can be had by Whistle Pig Gun barrel company.
Lightweight, multiple colors and lengths. If that doesn't work for you, send me a PM. I have a few Whistle Pig barrels that were mounted but never used. If I have what you might want, I could give you a good price. Here's a couple of examples.
