    Ruger 96/22

I just found out about this neat rifle, it's basically a level action 10/22. I've always wanted a lever gun but the tube feeding system is a big turn off. I'm just no fan of putting my hands around the muzzle.

Does anyone own(ed) one of these or have any experience with them? I'm thinking about hunting one down

They are great little rifles, but kind of hard to find and somewhat expensive. I would love to have one though and wish I would have bought one when they were an regularly stocked item. Post pics and a write up if you find one, that might push me over the edge...

I want one too! Love 10/22s and leverguns so the 96/22 would be almost the perfect .22 rifle. Been looking but have not been lucky enough to find one. The search goes on.

One of the guys on Swamp People uses a 96/22. The condition of that rifle is terrible. Every time I see it I want to go smack the fool that doesn't know how to treat a good rifle.

Ruger has 2 discontinued rifles I want, the PC 9 and now the 96/22.

The thought that it's a magazine fed lever gun is just awesome. Not to mention my 10/22 mags will work just fine.

C'mon Ruger, please revive the classics!

Nice. I'm keeping my eye out on the forms but I think the last one on gunbroker just went for $700

                96/22

Shot mine this weekend at 50 yards.....group at top right......then dialed it in. That is a 45ACP cartridge for scale.

I was hesitant, I paid ~$425 for mine with a decent scope on it......if you saw one for $700 then I did alright.

                    OK I'm jelly.

I suppose that's what happens when you get into shooting in 2012 you miss out on a lot of the good stuff.

I looked high and low for about 2 years, and it wasn't cheap. Things will settle down.

Prices are already coming down. I see ACRs for $2300 on gunbroker which is back within the reasonable realm. Of course you still have the delusionals asking $3000 for their AR but the market will correct itself.

However for something as rare as the 96/22 it might be a bit different

Well I just won an auction for a 96/22 on gunbroker. I wasn't going to win since the last one sold for over $700. Dang.
