    Micro Dot for 10/22 TD - question about mounting brakets

    braket = bracket

    I recently purchased a 10/22 TD and would like to put a basic Mircro Dot type sight on it with a quick release so that I can easily use iron sights too.

    I've seen discussions about various brands including Bushnell TRS-25, Aimpoint, Utradot, etc. but ultimately want to know about a combination of mount / rail I might need to make it a quick release set up.

    Is a quick release necessary? Any suggestions on what has worked for you?

    Thanks

    Depending on the mounting I think you can use the iron sights through the glass of the dot sight. The Bushnell TRS-25 is getting a lot of love around here. I know 10Xhobby uses one, and I think I saw that our own IZZY does too. Two great shots so I tend to believe that it's not a bad choice.

      Thanks. I think I'll just order the Bushnell TRS-25 and see how it attaches to the original rail and hope that the supplied rail works. I don't care to use both the iron sights and micro dot sight simultaneously (co-witnessing as I've learned).

        I just picked up a Bushnell TRS-25...Very small and low profile - allows me to co-witness with my new tech-sights (just posted about this earlier). I like the TRS-25 quite a lot! I wish there was a quick detach option if I want to switch to tech-sights only

          Hi, I answered your question in my thread 10/22 breakdown fitting in a bag.

          You will NOT be able to use the iron sights with the Ruger supplied rail. There is only one rail that ACTUALLY works and allows you to use your stock Ruger irons with the rail attached. There are other rails that have see through notches, but for many 10/22s you will still not be able to see the sights.

          You gotta use this one. See the pictures.

          This one costs a few bucks more, but that's because the design is trickier to machine. It is also made out of very good material.

          It took me a long time to find this rail, so I'm trying to help you avoid the pain of getting a rail that does not work.

          sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.
