New Tech-Sights Railed for 10/22 TD

Finally got my stupid/stubborn front sight out and finally installed Tech Sights on my 10/22 TD. I went with the new Rail Sight Package that just came out last month:

I was able to pop on a Bushnell TRS-25 on my rail as well and it will co-witness with the sights. Can't wait to sight this in! I already like this 100x over the OEM sights...

Does the red dot fit in the bag attached to the rifle?

haha those front sights are a pain. I finally took a dremel to mine (and I know dremel and gun should never be used in the same sentence). I love my tech sights so far though.

Yes, red dot fits easily in the bag - its low enough profile that allows to co-witness with the site.

Front sight was annoying. I had posted earlier for advice on how to get it out. I tried dremel and it didn't work out. Fortunately, one of the guys over at The Gun Range was nice enough to punch it out for me (not sure how he did it).

Thanks to the folks on this forum who recommended tech sights. I was on the fence on losing the rail option and luckily I waited long enough for them to come out with a version for rail!

That rear sight is actually the sight for the Marlin 795. I guess enough people where calling to order this set up that they now offer it on their website. Good job Tech-Sights!

Is that a factory rail that you are using? I might buy a 10/22 TD Friday and am leaning towards the Nodak Spud version (yes I know it cost more).

The barrel needs to be in a solid vise to punch the front sight out. I fiddled & futzed for a couple hours before giving up. Local 'smith vised it up and had it out with a couple whacks. And it IS directional. Don't recall which direction though.

My Tech Sights front sight didn't come close to fitting the dovetail. I did a lot of filling & filing until I didn't have gobs of daylight everywhere. Once I was happy with the fit/placement I put it together with a healthy dollop of red Loctite.

Love the sights, tho.

Bought my TD today. I'm disappointed in Ruger, their quality control has really gone down; I hope it functions well.

I believe you punch the front sight left to right is what I read. Just got my new 10/22 and will be putting TECH Sights on it and an ATI 6 postion side folding Stock.

Yes to remove front sight you have a punch out the front sight from the left to the right. On one of the rifles I saw today you could see that the site was installed from the right to the left and had a bunch of excess material left on the barrel.

Not trying to steal this thread but as an option take a look at the Williams Ace In The Hole sight. Low profile. I mounted a Bushnell mini red dot too. Looks and works great.

I will be interested in reading about how the rail-mounted Tech Sight shoots.

I have the conventional TSR100 on my 10/22 and it shoots like a dream. Very enamored with it. My groups with the Tech Sight are about as good as with a red dot sight. That was never true of the stock Ruger sights.

I'm doing the same thing with the railed sights. Actually, I bought the Marlin 795 tech sights and went with a scope on the Marlin, so then I had this expensive wasted techsight. Then I bought the 10/22 td as well and was told I could use the marlin 795 rear tech sight if I bought a matching front sight for the 10/22, which I did. I have yet to install it though, glad it worked out for you!
