I'm looking into which rifle to get my daughter. Probably will go with a rascal or a cricket. Help me decide which one. Need feedback for both.

Cricket vs rascal? Which one and why?

My kids have one of each. The Crickett is stainless with a pink laminate stock. The Rascal is a Blue composite stock. My daughter got the Crickett when she was 5. She is now 14. She outgrew the gun a few years back but she shot a ton of rounds through it. The Rascal my son just got this past Christmas. We have not got to shoot it much.
A couple things I like better about the Rascal are the safety and the accutrigger. It also has a little nicer peep style sight. The Rascal is also pre tapped for scope mounts. LOP on the Rascal is 11 1/2" as compared to 12" for the Crickett.
The Crickett has been a great gun and I think suitable for your daughter. If I were to be in the market I would go with the Rascal. -

I would go with a rascal because it's just like a regular bolt action. You don't have to pull a cocking knob like a cricket. I'm also considering a rascal for my daughter because it looks like she's going to be a lefty and Savage makes a lefty rascal.Comment

My kids have been shooting an m&p 15-22 since they were 5, it's an option. Doesn't really teach patience though :-)Comment

I would have thought the lop would be to long on the 15-22. I had my 5yr old in the yard with a small pellet gun recently and it was to far to the trigger.Comment

My 7 year old loves his Rascal. I looked at the Cricket and bought the Rascal. Such a better rifle.sigpic "On bended knee is no way to be free." - Eddie Vedder, "Guaranteed"
