Does anyone make a 22WMR AR upper?

I think the WMR is an overlooked round. I have assassinated many critters in my yard with the round and think it would be a force to be reckoned with in an AR.

I asked the same question a few years ago. I couldn't find anyone that had one, or was willing to work on one. I talk to a guy at Magnun Research and he expressed interest in converting one of their 10/22 style .22 mag rifles into an AR style. He never got back to me on whether or not it was possible, so to my knowledge nothing ever came of it.

It would make a heck of a little varmint gun though.

Probably can't find one because without a panic buying frenzy going on, there wasn't much of a point in developing such a product when you could just use 5.56 instead.

Alexander Arms recently released a .17HMR upper.Maybe 22WMR would be next?

Not much difference to make.I think it would be a good option also.Suggested it once. Was told ammo cost was too close to .223 to be viable. That's no longer true.

Could take months for a company to develop a product, and if prices come back down to something reasonable before they can get a product out the door and demand dies down it'll be pointless again, specifically a loss for the company making it.

From what I understand...22mag and 17hmr semi auto rifles are "rare"because it is a huge challenge to make them function reliably.it is a pressure issue...a bolt action locks the case in to a fully supported chamber with a solid bolt face.the semi auto guns do not lock up as solid due to the bolt sliding back and fourth to eject and feed another round.the thin brass just can't take it...I have personally had a 17hmr case rupture and pull the rim off...I bet an AR style miniaturized bolt would work...probably just too expensive.

Nordic Components was working on one and there were prototypes made, but the project got put on the back burner.

We are proud to annouce that we've got a working pre-production model of the upper (had that for a while actually).....however, more importantly, we have functional 19 round magazines. The hard part o

I believe that project was Tims when he was still at Nordic, and probably when Tim left them, the project was scrapped. Tim has since started up his own Company called Taccom and he makes great stuff.

I doubt you will ever see this done now, certainly not by NC..But who knows, maybe someone else will make an attempt..

In my opinion is is just not worth the effort to do. You can get .22 LR Rimfire now that will push 1700FPS. Not alot to be gained I do not think, just more expensive Magnum rimfire ammo you would have to buy...In my opinion the point of shooting rimfire is it is a cheap alternative to the larger more expensive centerfire rounds. Magnum is still rimfire, but very expensive..

AR57 is pretty close to what you are looking for.

Except 5.7 is centerfire and not exempt from AW regulations.

                      Ah, the elusive tube-fed 22Mag AR15 upper.

Keltec (sp) seems to have solved the problem they make a nice little semi auto pistol chambered in 22wmr.
