.22 SHORT WORKS IN MY SEMIAUTO!!!

With this crazy ammo shortage going on, I decided to get a few boxes of Remington .22shorts just because it was the only thing available at my local walmart, and to simply see if it would work. Well, I finally had a chance to try them out today, loading them into the magazine of my Armscor M1600 and my CMMG .22lr upper and guess what? They worked!... kinda, it would fire, eject and load the next round, and fire again. Only problem was occasionally it would have feed issues due to the magazines being for .22lr so I didnt load more than four at a time. My .22lr upper liked it better than the Armscor, and maybe if I could find a way to temporarily lighten my recoil spring and shim the magazines, I could probably get away with using .22 longs, and .22 shorts since they seem to be readily available in a few places.
If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.

    Nifty.

If your rifles not designed for it it could build up lead in the chamber before the rifling. So clean it out good.

Also, using shorts in a rifle designed for LR could lead to damaging the chamber throat.

Yup, they'll work in a GSG 1911 as well.

My g/f decided to stop by Turners when all this madness started and surprise me with some CCI ammo, too bad it was .22 LONG!

29 grain stuff, super short (just like 22 Short) but it shoots, and decent groupings at 50-100 yds with my 10/22.

I doubt that firing .22 shorts will damage the chamber throat. Pump, bolt and lever action rifles, not to mention revolvers, have all been shooting shorts, longs and long rifles for generations without ill effects.

I shoot shorts out of my 10/22 but have to manually cycle and load it. Extremely quiet and good for back yard pest control
