So I picked up my marlin last week took it to the range on Sunday. I was kind of happy with the groupings at 50 yards blamed the new barrel and my bad shooting as the reason. One thing I couldn't help but notice is how front heavy it was every trigger pull using a bag made the thing bounce unless I was really pulling it in to my shoulder.
Well to try and add a little bit of heft to the rear of the rifle I decided to experiment. Tonight I took off the butt plate and low and behold its hollow well I grabbed some bbs and some spray expanding foam.
Well I cut down the little insert poured 2400 bbs in the butt stock and a few fishing weights in there for good measure. Sprayed the hell out of it with expanding foam. It moved my center of balance from the front stud to about 5 inches back between the mag and trigger and probably added 1.5 pounds to my rifle. I am pretty happy right now since the stock doesn't feel hollow and gross. Ill give a range report on Sunday. Might have pictures in a few hours. Any questions ask I'm just happy this worked.
