    Volquartsen Trigger Groups

    Hey guys...

I was thinking about getting one of those Volquartsen trigger groups, because I bought a late-model 10/22 with a plastic one and I don't like it. They are a bit spendy, so I thought I'd ask first: Are they worth it?

Just for the sake of having a metal trigger housing? No.

I've put two on rifles, they're ok. However one of them was used because that particular rifle didn't have a ruger factory trigger group in the first place. They're good as a decent single stage trigger, but the kidd 2 stage is better in my opinion(and costs more than I got the vq triggers for).

Not as nice as a two stage kidd but it is a very good single stage trigger. I believe it is set at 2.5 lbs but it breaks very clean and smooth.
If your gonna use it for bench rest only a very light two stage is nice but for just every day plinking the volquartsen is great I wouldn't trade mine for another and I have used a kidd two stage

I have the KIDD single stage.

It is a very nice trigger @ 1-1/2# pull weight, zero creep and zero overtravel. Can be easily end user adjustable from 1-1/2#~5#. It is a lot more fun to shoot. Once you get one, you want more for every 10/22 that you have! Its addictive!

See if someone nearby has one you can try. Guaranteed you will want one!

            Three other options from Clark.

They offer OEM metal trigger group housings for $30.

They offer a trigger group with stock parts in an OEM Aluminum housing.

They offer the OEM housing with their trigger work and speed bolt release.

I have a couple of the VQ groups and they're okay (and on sale at Midway) but if you're going to spend $200 for a VQ then you may as well save a bit longer for a vastly better $300 Kidd 2-stage.

I actually don't mind the plastic trigger group and from what I read it's better than the old metal groups. I bought a plastic one not long ago and I like it. For $40 you can upgrade your own with a VQ hammer kit. It's not perfect but it's far better than stock. Or you could have Clark Custom do a good 2.2-2.5lb trigger job for $85. Or you can buy a Kidd DIY upgrade single-stage kit for about $110. Or you could get the best - a Kidd 2-stage trigger group.

Can a two stage trigger be used for squirrel shooting or is it just intended for bench rest shooting?

You can use it for either without a problem.

Yes it can be used for either - you just don't want a hunting rifle's trigger to be as light as a benchrest rifle's and Kidd will setup their trigger at any weight you like.
