Taurus 941 .22 Magnum

Just purchased one of thse yesterday. I failed to write down the sub model, but it's the snubnose version. Pretty excited to get my hands on it. Anyhow, any thoughts on the 941? I've heard mostly good things, but some dislike the trigger weight....what do you think?

I think this is it. It just had some different grips on it, throwing me off a bit!

Not a 941 (22 mag), but a 94 (22LR). The frame and much of the mechanics are shared between the two. Really like my 94, aside from the heavy trigger in DA mode. Mine has been trouble free, but after 150 rounds or so, it is real dirty and the cylinder starts to bind. A good cleaning and lube puts it right back to normal. Incidentally, I also have an LCR 22lr, and prefer shooting the Taurus.

ohhhh thanks for the comparison! I still really have a strange, deep down desire for that .22 Mag LCR. After holding it's big brother, the .357 mag for almost an hour and trying to talk myself into buying it (even though I know I'd hate shooting it because it would drive me nuts from the recoil) I KNOW I'd live the .22 mag, at least the feel. I am excited to get the taurus into my hands. It has some lame hot pink slippery grips on it right now that, even though they are cute, serve me very little in practical purpose. I will replace those with the rubberized ones and then I will be happy...for a few months. I hope! thanks for that comparison! It gives me some hope I will be happy with it. The only reason I didn't go for it previously was because I really wanted a hammerless one, BUT now realize that hammer could be what makes me like it even more YAY!

I've had this 4 inch 941 for at least 10 years. Been very happy. It does have a rough and hard DA trigger, but the SA is as good as my Smiths. Most of my shooting is SA.

To KLD83....I also own a Taurus model 905 (9mm snubbie) which is built on Taurus's small revolver frame just as your 941 and my 94 5" barrel are. Tell you what, I am trying to get my wife to get rid of her LCR .38 (I have 2 LCR's..... her .38 and my .22lr), and get her interested in my 905 9mm as her SD gun. She might like the pink grips from your 941. I propose a swap....I'll send you a pair of the stock black Taurus 2 finger snubbie grips, and you send me the pink ones from your 941.....Pm me if interested.

cnj, thanks for the offer, but it wouldn't be a fair trade. The pink ones I've got are worth $75. I'd say get the pink houge ones for $26 If that's what she wants. I appreciate the offer (plus these are purdy, but not practical. Slippery and not something you'd want in a sweaty hand. I'm getting too excited to break "her" out of jail and go play! I will post a few pics after I get it! Yipppppppppeeeeee! There is an indoor range just a few blocks from the gun shop I hope to stop at on the way home!

No problem. Just trying to help. If they are worth $75 they must be some semi-custom wooden ones. Not sure I'd part with 'em either....never know when the wife or ladyfriend might see them and say "cute". Next thing you know, you're training a new shooter. Good stuff!

Picked up my 941 today! I couldn't get back to the shop (90 miles away) any sooner. (Yes, we are in the boonies) Went right on over to the indoor range(now, that is some fancy stuff :P) to check her out. I enjoyed this gun so much. I have a lot of work to do to get comfortable shooting it in double action. It's VERY hard to fire it this way for me. Single action was highly enjoyable, as the trigger pull must be only 4 pounds at most. I'm not sure if it's just the small grips and I can't get the proper purchase on the weapon or if it's my weak, little lady finger. I will post a photo below. I plan on ordering the orginal rubber grips, as these are cute, but serve me no purpose.
