New to me Ruger Flatgate Single Six

Hey all, just got a hold of this old Flatgate, haven't had a chance to really go over it yet, she needs a good cleaning. Guy I bought it off of said it was a heck of an accurate shooter, but he hadn't had it out of his safe in nearly 5 years. So, it now belongs to me It certainly shows some wear, guy said his daughter dropped it once,cracked the handle, and marred some of the metal Hoping I didn't overpay too much for it at $250) Serial number is 317XX which puts is around '55-'56 maybe?

So, I'll just do a little clean up, replace the grips(keep these stored away), and consider it a nice little shooter, as it was designed to be.

I am jealous, used to have one of those, wish I still did. They are nice little guns. Call Ruger and see if they will still warranty the grips,LOL

they are getting harder to find and pricey (have 2) both 5 digit numbers.

I thought I had the OP covered as I too have a chipped set of the black grips.

Had to go look.....but my left grip is also the damaged one (figures)

Thanks for checking, the girlfriend almost has me talked into mother of pearl grips, she was peaking over my shoulder when I was looking around. Her dad has a three screw convertible that she learned to shoot with.
