Saw a ad in the American Rifleman today, at first I thought it was a renamed 17 HMR but its a all new round looks like a rim fire 17 Remington 3000 FPS, ammo said to be $15 or so box of fifty. It will be my next rifle, Savage is already making one. Off to see if Turners can order me one.

Pretty cool
I would not at all be surprised to see a substantial amount of development being put into rimfire cartridges over the next few years. Hoping CZ puts some effort into it.
Here is a darned good reference ...http://www.chuckhawks.com/17_super_mag_first_look.htmComment

I haven't seen any. I don't think anything CZ currently has in bolt rifles really works with the 17 WSM. Too much for the 455 rimfire action, I'm supposing. The 527 centerfire is probably about the right size, a bit big - but I doubt the rimfire needs the 527's locking lug design and cost that goes with it. I think CZ would have to bring out a new action to use the 17 WSM.
Worst case scenario for me is a T/C Encore barrel.
A semi auto in the 17 WSM would be quite the set up.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

I have been researching these and they are supposed to be released late summer to fall.Which tells me from other new things, the normal person may find one and some ammo by Christmas.
I may have to try one as well.Comment

I'm watching this myself. In the late 70s I bought into the 5mm Remington rimfire and ended up with a gun with no ammo to support it. But this is at least based on a fastener load that's been around for awhile. I hope it takes off. I'm looking forward to another small varmint gun. DRComment

I just got my BMAG (17 WSM) and sorry to say am not at all impressed. My first shot with the BMAG was a fail to fire. Bad round, it had a deep perfect rim dent that should have fired it. The next two round fired perfectly and a case stuck in the chamber. The bolt has only one extractor and it put a deep scratch on the rim but could not pull the case out. I had to go home and use a cleaning rod to push the case out. What I saw was the head is slightly bulged on both fired cases (over pressure?). I ran cleaning brush and patches through the barrel and noticed a rough place about 4 inches down the bore I may end up sending the rifle back to Savage. After only two fired rounds, I am very unhappy with the BMAG.Comment
