    Savage 64Fxp? noob alert!

so after alot of researching, and procrastination... i finally got around to buying my first rifle.

I purchased a Savage 64fxp for 189.99? and im looking to do some mods with it. Since im new to rifles/ guns in general i was wondering if anyone out there can post a pic of their savage and name of mods?

im looking to get a decent scope, not to pricey because im still running a budget. The one i bought did not come with any, and a bi-pod

I came close to buying a marlin, but i think im pretty satisfied goin the sav route.

Simmons makes a decent .22 scope that is very reasonably priced. Here are some available from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ns%20.22%20mag

Big 5 has Barska scope on sale + 10% discount (you need to sign up to get the 10%). Here's the link http://www.big5sportinggoods.com/cat...le-scopes.html

Honestly, keep everything stock on it (except iron sights, for the love of the second amendment, get different irons installed). It is a good gun, but it is not a gun to mod. Use it to plink and improve skill. Then save up your pennies and buy a 10/22. That is a gun to mod. Then you can use your 10/22 and let newbs use your 64.

If you want a decent bi-pod, I got the one wal mart sells for around 40$. really though, I do not shoot my 64 from a bench so I never installed the bi-pod. Like I said, it is a great "accurate enough" gun. Run it stock and it will last you forever (probably... I only have around 6000 rounds through mine.)

I would agree with SoCal Bob on the scope choice except you might consider going with the AO model of that Simmons. I wouldn't spend a lot of $$$ on a rifle that is basically a plinker. Not knocking the rifle, it is what it is. Good luck with your shooting. Work on the basics.
