Ruger 10/22 trigger replacement question

Do I have to tear down the whole trigger group just to change out the trigger? I want to swap out the plastic one for an aluminum one with over travel screw.

Yes, you are going to have to take it all down just to get to the trigger. It's easy to do, ton of youtube videos out there on it. Take your time, and keep track of the parts you remove.

You may as well replace the hammer with a Volquartsen kit ($40) to get the pull down to 2-1/2lbs while you have it apart.

I have a reworked trigger group in there that has a pull of 2.75lbs, but my cheap a** didn't pay the little extra for a metal trigger with an overtravel screw.

KIDD trigger is the best on the planet. easy to put in and has a pull of a pound and a half and no creep or over travel.

KIDD is the only way to go on a ruger 10/22

Not sure what trigger your using, but when I upgraded my 10/22 I replaced the trigger and hammer as a fitted set. As I recall the kit came with shims and new springs. I believe the kits was a Volquartsen. But it was easy just have a lot of light and skip the coffee and you'll be ok. The trigger came out "crisp" if not a bit on the light side.
