    legality of .22 shooting

First post here so sorry if this is in the wrong place.

I live just outside of the city limits of Sutter(about 45 min. from sac) and was wondering if it was legal to shoot a .22lr in our rice field. the field is about 35 acres, and our house is on the edge of that field. We dont live on the edge of the Sutter Buttes, but about 10 miles away from it. Thanks

On the surface of it, sounds good-to-go. Don't shoot toward or over roads, be sure to have a back-stop, and it's hard to see what problem could result.

look at your county ordinances... if that checks out then you cant shoot within 150 yards of any dwelling, camp site, or highway

The 'dwelling' reference only applies if it is not your dwelling, or one you have the owner's permission to be shooting near.

"3004. (a) It is unlawful for any person, other than the owner,
person in possession of the premises, or a person having the express
permission of the owner or person in possession of the premises
              , to
hunt or to discharge while hunting, any firearm or other deadly
weapon within 150 yards of any occupied dwelling house, residence, or
other building or any barn or other outbuilding used in connection
              therewith."

I second the pheasant comment. This valley used to be loaded with pheasants.
