I would buy a ruger or smith.

The taurus has a 18lbs plus DA trigger if not more

No, the 992 is not on the roster, so unless you are "exempt" or buy used via PPT from a CA resident who happens to have one, you can't get one.

I was in the same boat as you, had no luck... Finally came across a good deal on a sw617.... No optional 22wmr cylinders tho

A possible option....I know it is not on the Tracker frame, and does not have the WMR cylinder like the 992, but if your primary desire is for a 22lr double action revolver, I can speak highly of my Taurus Model 94 w/5" barrel. It is built on Taurus's "small" frame (similar to a S&W J frame), but with a Pachmayr Compac grip, it fills my hand nicely. It is on the CA DOJ list, and is relatively inexpensive......I have seen it as low as $299 when on sale @ Turners. Mine has been 100% reliable through ~1000 rounds, and is darn near as accurate as my Ruger MK III 22/45. I've been very pleased with it.
