My rifle is the awesome M&P 15-22. I didn't buy this rifle as a trainer since I don't have a full size AR nor do I want one. I don't plan on using it at close range as defense weapon (willingly). I just bought it to target shoot and to do what 22s do. The reason I went with this more expensive route then perhaps ruger or marlin, is I think this is cooler, yea that's it my justification.
I want to put a scope on it. Now this is an average what $500 rifle? So one should not insult with swap meet optics right?
I would love to put on a Nikon ProStaff with the BDC recticle. I love how that Spot on program works.
Another cheaper route that I thought of was this http://www.hawkeoptics.com/hawke-spo...o-mil-dot.html.
I was thinking of using the mildots not as range finders per say, more of holdovers. Perhaps zero at 50 next dot down 75 next 100 and so forth. I know it would not be dead on but imagine I'd be close to the target.
Can it be done? Will it work? The reason I went with a fixed power is so I can take the variable of magnification out of it. That way the dots represent the same range everytime. The Adjustable Objective is that I can be focused weather it be 50 to 150 even more on the target and worked the dots.
