Smith and Wesson MP 15-22 magazine Compatibility

I recently bought a MP 15-22 and can't find mags anywhere. I'm aware of the plinker tactical brand, but want 10 rounders. The colt/Uramex mags appear to be the exact same as the S&W ones though. I don't have the Colt/ Uramex on hand to test this theory out, but I'm sure someone as already tried it right....?

This article implies they will work, but once again I'm going off hopeful assumptions.

Nope, the Umarex mags won't work.

No personal experience with them, but ProMag also makes a 32 & 10rd 15/22 magazine. The 10rders are ridiculously long though.

S&W mags are proprietary to the gun.

I picked up one today thinking it would work with my AR lower with dedicated 22lr upper... Obviously that isnt going to work. The place I picked it up at also had two more. I could grab the other 2 and basically sell them to you at cost plus shipping?

At this point, you should probably place an order at S&W's web store and wait for them to ship. I picked up my 15-22 late in December last year, and got lucky by getting 10 10-round short mags from G&R Tactical. They are now out of stock on both long and short mags.

AFAIK, you can't use any of the 2nd party mags in CA since they all are 10+ capacity.

Yea, but I have 6 BDM mags coming. I just wanted another mag until they came to hold me over. Not worth the expense/hassle of that adapter. Plus I can help out a fellow Cal'gunner

Once again I read this and still don't see where it implies the magazines are interchangeable between the the S&W and colt/hk. Maybe you can post the text you are reading as saying that.

I already spoke with the author of the review I posted. The mags don't work unless modded.
