Just got a Sig 522 rifle and been looking on various websites and googled for the answers but could not find anything on how to field strip the bolt. WTF? Guys, a little help here please? thank you

Thanks for the video post bro. I've seen those videos and to clarify is how to remove the firing pin and extractor so I can get in there with some Hoppe's no. 9.

Really? I was curious since when I manually push the firing pin with my finger it felt grimmy. Fellas is that true what gave says? I haven't seen anything regarding a stripping of the bolt for this rifle. It's a real PITA!

If I correctly understand what you are asking, all you have to do is remove to two pins to separate the lower and upper (the two red circles). Then pull the charging handle back and out once it's in the rear position (the arrow).

I clean it once in awhile, especially if i've been running a lot of bulk ammo which is about all I have atm. Mine started feeling grainy like you are saying.

Thanks for the reply but what I'm looking for is how to strip down the bolt itself. I have the upper with me, the lower in jail. Thanks again. Anybody else?

The reason your not finding this info is because its not common practice and probably not necasarry. There are many 522 owners on here including myself, maybe it's not user servicable or most just don't see the need to get deep into it. I have never needed to do more than spray some cleaner in/on it, wipe it and put a drop of oil here and there.

Yeah I think ur right about that. I'm just gonna leave it alone. Spray some CLP on it, blow some compressed air and call it a day. Thanks everyone for all your input
