I've never finished a piece of wood in my life. I will be going by the wood workers store. Every time I've been in there the place was crawling with older gents that look like they have pine oil for blood.

                      Tana,
The bbl is a green mountain 20" .920 ( like long guns) havent measured the Over all and I already took it apart to start the finish work on the wood.

                      JNunez,
Midway USA $79.99 = tax and shipping came in at about $100.00 to my door

Izzy, I read that thread today while looking for info on refinishing a stock.
Thank's for the real life experience report. That's all I needed to convince me to try it. I wonder if I can get the wood a bit darker first?

                            Looking pretty sweet!

Just be patient and take your time when your staining the stock.
