DiFi considers this .22 to be an ASSAULT WEAPON!

My first rifle. A Glennfield Model 60.

    Ain't she a beauty?

My dad bought it for me when I was in seventh grade.

    That was in 1986.

I plan on giving it to my son as his first rifle.

    Fast forward to 2013....

According to Dianne Feinstein, It is evil and shall be banned!

The legislation bans the sale, transfer, manufacturing and importation of:All semiautomatic rifles and handguns that have a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds.

btw the Marlin 60 doesnt have a magazine. its tubular so it would be exempt and not considered an assault weapon

Hm. I would just guess that once again rimfire will be exempt.

      If not, that's pretty ridiculous.

        ^exactly.

Please calm down. FWIW, DiFi's bill is dying a quiet death already. The votes aren't there.

            Per http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/...c113M1TW5a:e0:

            (36) The term 'semiautomatic assault weapon' means any of the following, regardless of country of manufacture or caliber of ammunition accepted:

            (A) A semiautomatic rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any 1 of the following:

            (i) A pistol grip.
            (ii) A forward grip.
(iii) A folding, telescoping, or detachable stock.
(iv) A grenade launcher or rocket launcher.
            (v) A barrel shroud.
            (vi) A threaded barrel.

            (B) A semiautomatic rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, except for an attached tubular device designed to accept, and capable of operating only with, .22 caliber rimfire ammunition.
Please do not become complacent though! Just because you are exempt this go around doesn't mean they won't get around to you eventually. The ONLY reason for bills of this type is to eventually take ALL guns!
The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed - where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

Besides the above point about the exemption under (B)

There is a whole list of exempted firearms towards the end of the bill.

Hell even the detachable magazine semi auto marlins are exempt:
They even exempted the 70HC which stands for High Capacity and came with 15 and 25 round magazines!

Helps to read the whole bill for yourself:

Yeah, thankfully the votes aren't looking good for the bill this time around, it will give gun owners a chance to elect people who will respect our interests, because as everyone knows, more bills are being created as we speak. We as a people need to keep ourselves informed as to what our elected officials are wanting to do to us!

A tubular magazine isn't considered detachable.

I disagree... This is a red herring. any new models of lever action guns will be AWs.

DiFi would consider most of my rimfire rifles assault weapons including a pre WWII Savage model 6

I know my Erma EM-1 M1 carbine look alike, and my Umarex AR-15 are on her $#@! list
If she gets into bolt action my Savage 5 because of tube magazine capacity would make the list too.

Unfortunately she does not know the difference between her gluteous maximus and her humerous

I think it would be wise to pay as much attention to what the state tries to push through as the federal. Votes may not be there for federal, but the state super majority is going to do as it darn well pleases...
