So heat is the worst enemy of a barrel. Fluted barrel is the answer to reduce this wear.

Not quite.

Flutes in theory can cool the barrel faster, but with less material it'll actually heat up faster. That being said, it's not like you're shooting for precision and shooting fast enough to get the barrel that hot at the same time anyway. Primarily with fluting you're saving weight but still have additional material compared to a thinner profile to maintain rigidity.
