Any shops that build/sell complete Custom 10/22s??

I'm in the market for a high end 10/22...say a Volquartsen or KIDD. I don't mind building one myself, but was wondering if you guys can point me to a shop that physically stocks and sells receivers, stocks, barrels, etc. Looking for a shop in LA, OC, SGV, IE.

Most shops don't carry much besides a few basic items, because there's just too much to stock in a retail environment. Which brand barrels does a store stock, which profiles, which colors, what happens when the purple fluted 25" lightweight barrel sits on the shelf collecting dust for 3 years, etc.

You might be able to find some more basic accessories like charging handles, mag releases, bolt catches, but even that's a little iffy since there is just so much out there without the same easy to follow and obvious trends like say... AR-15 components.

Of course a shop can order stuff for you and a lot of shops can assemble it, but you'd end up paying for gunsmith work that's really easy to just do yourself.

You can check with Hawktech in Boise. He does a fair amount with 10/22 as his shop has a large competition section.

I was at DAS in Solana Beach on Saturday and he had a couple of what looked like Magnum Research rifles. I held one for a second that had a laminate stock and a carbon fiber sleeved barrel. I couldn't believe it was so light.

Almost forgot... I went to Discount Gun Mart in Santee on Sunday and they had some sort of high-end blue anodized receiver for sale. $350 I think, could have been more. I know that's even further away though.

Wild sports has a .17 hmr volquarsen custom 10/22.

Looked pretty awesome as i have never seen one in .17 hmr.

What kind of customer stuff are you looking for?

I have a 10/22 with hornet trigger, kidd receiver and TacSol barrel w/compensator. It's not a VQ but it' is a customer rifle

Go on Kidd.com and but the parts yourself. Really simple to swap out all the internals.

Barrel and V block might require a vise, or at least will make it easier.
