    Are ruger barrels any good?

I bought a Ruger 10/22 varmint with 20" SS bull barrel - .920"- just curious how do these ruger barrels compare to the afternarket bull barrels?

I still have the original SS barrel from Ruger on my 10/22, and my dad has a bull barrel on his. I've shot both, not extensively, but I can't really tell a difference yet. Both appear to be just as accurate. I'm sure there's differences, such as weight, length, etc. I'm sure others will chime in, the bull barrel is a popular upgrade.

rimfirecentral has several threads about barrels, in fact an entire column. From what I gather, Ruger Target barrels are hit & miss. Most people buy an aftermarket & have them modified how they want. I would not put money into a ruger barrel, unless it simply a cut/crown. Are they good enough for most of us? I'd say yes. Go look at some of these peoples target results, I'll prolly never get results like that!
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!
