Attaching a sling to a plastic 10/22 stock

I was hoping to do one of the Appleseed classes in the near future, so I'm looking to attach a sling to my 10/22. My problem is that it's a plastic hollow stock.

Will normal wood screw sling posts work? For the front post I can put a small piece of wood inside the stock for the screw to hold on to, but I can't back up the rear post in the same way.

I figure I could also drill a pair of holes in the stock and run a cord or cable through and attach the sling that way.

Has anybody here ever had a similar problem?

No thats not the kind you would want, they make them in a nut and bolt configuration besides the screw like type you are talking about.

You would simply drill a hole and insert it and tighten down the nut.

Depending on the countour in the rear you may have to use epoxy or something if the nut wont fit because of the angles.

I just used 2 of those on my synthetic stock. I pulled off the butt plate which isn't intended for removal btw to get access for a wrench to hold the nut.

In the end I figured out a way to secure the butt plate but I don't recommend removing it...learn by my mistake!

btw you only need a front attachment for appleseed.
