how much should i pay for this 10/22?

I was at a local gun shop today and spotted a used heavy barrel 10/22. It is a standard ruger receive, green mountain fluted 18inch barrel, aftermarket wood stock with rubber butt plate. It also has an older berman ( airgun? ) scope on it. The scope is a little beet up but has clear glass. It has some lite scratches on the metal and a few decent ones on the stainless bolt. There are a couple nicks and dings on the stock. They want 500 plus tax and dros for it. I think its a bit high but what do you guys think?

18" fluted Gm barrel blued is ~$150, Boydstock ~100, scope is no value added.
If you can get a R10/22 for ~$250, then the cost for new is the same.
And, you can pick what you really want. So, I would say a little high.
Right now, anything 22LR is going for premum price, but shop around
and you will do fine.

500 is too much , unless you want the barrel and stock anyways they add no value to the 10/22 ...

250 would be my top dollar and thats only if its 100% i most likely would not go over 200 on it and most my 10/22's have been bought for under a 100 from pawn shops ... i would suggest that this is not the time to buy and wait a lil bit to see how things shake out so you wont feel so bad when prices normalize again , remember as of right now MSRP have not increased so supply will be back once the panic buying has stopped and there is over stock of weapons at the dist ....

$239 wood, $259 synthetic with stainless barrel.

So they can be found at reasonable prices, in un-reasonable times.

I think it's a bit high as well. But if you want it, you should pay $500 plus tax and dros, because that is how much they want for it and if you don't pay it, you don't get it.

I can get a standard 10/22 at the base exchange for 213.00 no tax. So I can build essentially the same thing for $463. With the same barrel and Boyds thumb home stock. Unless they would go down to the high threes low fours then I'm not buying. Plus if I build one it would be brand new.

I just bought one for $260 (paid a little extra than the original set price. Agreed to the increase only because the guy selling was driving fairly far compared to me, and we had already messed up meeting once). And it came with some things that add some value.

But $500? Yikes. I have seen ones with scratches and what not go for $350+ on gunbroker though. I am not surprised too much that they would ask a high price. Considering you have to pay tax as well, I would say don't.

500 bones is way too much cabbage for that. The barrel is the only thing that would've caught my interest. But even then, given the wear and other unusables... It's at least $200 overpriced. As was pointed out earlier, buy new and customize to your liking.

Stock trigger assembly? That would make a difference to me. If it has a premium trigger, its probably worth it. Also, if it is an older one with a stock metal trigger housing, imho, its worth more than a brand new one. How bad do you want it?

I think those are Big 5 sale prices too. Sports Authority has them a bit cheaper. Wood/synthetic blued models go for $229 at regular price.

But I agree with the others. I would pass on that $500 price tag. Buy new and and build your own customizations, then sell all the parts you replaced to get back a little on what you spent.
