I've had no problems just shipping to my wifes name, using a different card. YMMV.
And jail re: firearms refers to the 10 day wait in CA. To make sure that people who can't have guns don't get guns. At least the law-abiding folks like here on CG.

I picked up an online order at Cabela's today and when breaking down some of my boxes into a single box, the customer service gal tried to "dispose of the Allegra for me".

I dove across the counter, pried the Allegra boxes out of her oversized mitts, and ran out of the store screaming bloody murder. You can mess with my 22lr, but don't touch the free Allegra samples.

True story.
