    CMMG 22lr Evo mags?

    Hi folks,

So I just thought about getting more evolution .22lr mags for my dedicated 22 upper and found that CMMG no longer sells them... In fact no one sells them... Wtf?

I'm looking for 10 round short mags for my dedicated 22 upper and it looks like CTD, Brownells, CMMG and everyone else no longer carries them? (not back ordered or OOS, just no longer made)

I got 4 mags but was looking for 2 more... What the heck?!?!

New product or something? I've emailed CMMG about it, waiting to see what they say...

We carry these but all suppliers are out of stock due to the gun control buying panic that's been going on since about November 7th.

Today, we are ecstatic to announce that Lunde Studio acquired Exile Machine. Exile Machine is another forerunner in the gun industry, boasting 10 years of substantial professional experience.

Even your site says sold out... and what panic since Nov 7th? (1) I thought the panic started after the SH murders and (2) since when did the 22lr mags go on a panic buy before that?

Sigh...... let me know if they ever come back..... I got enough .223/5.56 stuff... now I'm pissed cause they sold out of these 22lr mags even before the "SH murder" panic... I don't get it.

EDIT EDIT- ok, I get the Nov 7th date... but come on.... 22lr.. really? ok.. ok... I guess (1) the election and (2) the .223/5.56 stuff in manufacturing "took over" the 22lr stuff after Dec 14th but I'm like wow....

Anybody have a close up shot of the EVO mags or a description on how they work with the BHOA? I'm wondering if I can modify my Black Dog X-Form mags.

Check Shadow65 old posts. He's got some good info there... He's the expert at the 22lr conversion kits/uppers. I did alot of reading on this stuff and it helped me out alot.

CMMG still makes the mags. Right now, if they do get some in, they are going to back orders.

Panic buying started right after the last election.
The announcement of a proposed ban set it into over drive.
I have orders sitting since mid November. But I saw three of them charge today which means they went into production.
Any orders placed after December 17th were cancelled due to the projected 6 month wait.

For any information you need with great videos, check out CMMG youtube.

I kinda messed around trying to get Black Dog mag to work with CMMGs bolt Open and was not succesful in my venture. Not saying it cannot be done but I spent alot of time and was unsuccesful. There is really no feasible way to get the Black Dog follower to engage the CMMG BHOA. You pretty much would have to redesign the whole Black Dog mag to do it..

When we tested the first gen CMMG BHOA mags, we used the Gen l CMMG Black followers when Gen 1 springs in the BDM mags. You have to make sure the inside mag channel is perfectly smooth and a slight 45 degree angle is cut in the back of the mag feed tower. You might find instruction if you google bdm mag mods for bhoa.

You have to use the CMMG BHOA followers to operate the BHOA.

Thats intersting Dave, I am not familiar with the early BDMs and I cannot recall what Gen Black Dog I was trying this with at the time but merely changing to a CMMG follower and spring would not do the trick for me anyway. The rear of the follower never was rearward in the mag enough to come close to catching the tab on the CMMG BHOA..This is from memeory but it seems the CMMGs either had longer followers or they rode furthur rearward in the mag. One I had did not even fit the BHOA when trying to close the rifle up.

And if you put a nice bevel on the back edge of the sharp part of the black BHO followers it helps to prevent digging into the softer gray parts of the Gen1 CMMG Mag Bodys...

That said, if your in CA... I would either use the EVO's or the Gen1 mags with the standard Non-BHO green followers. The Black BHO followers combined with gray 10rnd mag body's have been plagued with problems. For some reason the 15/25rnd mags were unaffected..
