    taurus 94 problem!

I just bought me a new 94 for christmas, and shot it for the first time yesterday. It worked better than I expected until it stopped working after maybe 100 rounds. The transfer bar appears to not be connected to anything, and falls out of place locking the whole thing up. I can shake it while holding it upside down to get it back in position to cycle it. I know I can just send it in for warranty work, but if it is just the transfer bar I can do that myself if I can get taurus to send me the part, to avoid having to ship it and all.

All I need to know is if anyone is familiar with this particular revolver, and if the transfer bar actually connects to anything, or just free floats in there. It almost looks like there should be a little peg on it connecting it to the trigger. Pics would be awesome. Thanks

Also I know I should have probably gone with a s&w, but the local store had this in stock.

I would just send it in to the factory if its brand new it shouldn't be your headache even more so since some companies will void your warranty if you don't have a qualified gunsmith or cert. armorer or even their own repair department do the work just food for thought

shipping it is my headache. Four screws and two little pieces of wire is easy though.

        fax:

        I used to own a 94.

            if...IF...your mechanically inclined
            open it.
Make sure you gunsmith screw drivers.

            Secondly.
Rimfire revolvers are notorious for having the cylinder bind
at the forcing cone because of carbon build up.

Heads up! I took this gun apart and found the transfer bar was broken, also there were metal shavings and chips everywhere. the machining looks like it was done with a file by a 6 year old. So I called taurus this morning, and after being on hold for 1 hr 15 min the lady said,

"transfer bar? Iv'e a had a lot of tho........, let me see if I can ship one out to you."

Another 15 minutes on hold, " I can still ship that part out, for now. but not.......um............... uh.................what's the address?"

Seems fishy to me. I wouldn't send anything in for repair work right now if I was you. I have been burned before, http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=249994, and I got a wierd feeling with that conversation.

Also I am the guy that read all the bad stuff about taurus revolvers, from here and elsewhere, and thought it wouldn't happen to me. I've got it figured out to 75 rounds, possibly 84 before the part broke. It jammed up after firing 3 rounds from the last cylinder. Save your money, get a S&W or Ruger.
