    22 Revolver- recommendations

I always wanted a nice 22 revolver. I shot an older S&W double action that had a trigger job done. It had a 4 inch barrel. Don't remember what model it was. I started shooting cans double action at about 40 yards. What a great gun! I could hardly miss.
So now I have to have one in a 4 inch model. I know most of them are pricy, but that's ok. So what are your recommendations?

For shooting cans, I like my Ruger Single Six. If it's double action you want, I'll let others with more knowledge suggest something.

Get a S&W 63 if you can find one on the used market.

My favorite is my Ruger Single Six. If could only have one, it would probably be an S&W 617...

S&W model# 617 with a 10 round cylinder, and a 6" bb. is what I have had for years. I love this revolver. It goes to the range everytime I go. Some of the other guns don't make it to every range trip.

Some good recommendations here so far...The finest gun of the bunch may be the Colt Diamondback but that depends on personal taste and preference I guess. Although most .22 revolvers are pricey, the Sp-101 may be the best bang for your buck.

Price independent: S&W 617. Top of the line. $799. Very accurate. Will last several lifetimes.
Price dependent: Taurus Model 94. Saw it as low as $299. Pretty accurate. Mine has been trouble free.
Middle of the road: Ruger SP101-22lr. Saw it as low as $549. Pretty accurate. Will last your lifetime and then some. Love mine.

The S&W 617 is everything in a 22 revolver you can ever wish for except for the price. Get over the cost and it will be cherished for many generations.

                        +1 on this one.

Am also looking at one for a new purchase.

Also, have an old High Standard Sentinel R-100 3" Bbl. 9-shot and absolutely enjoy this kit gun.

                          If it's a 22 go with a 9 shot!

Btt. I'm also in the market for a NEW .22 revolver

My only qualifications are its on the CA roster. Isn't there one with a 10 round capacity?

I dig the ruger SP, what else is out there? I've got a Walter p22 I think I'm ready to swap for a wheel gun... Loved the p22, I have 2 mags and the laser but I also have an LCP, so I rather have a revolver than two polymer compact pistols.
