savage 64f aftermarket

i recently purchased a savage 64f on sale. I've been looking for aftermarket parts for this rifle and from what i can see, there is very little.

I managed to find a lighter trigger on ebay(not sure if i would trust it, but we'll see when it comes in) but i am having trouble finding a different stock. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are a California resident I suggest that you educate yourself on the state's gun laws. There are some very strict laws in CA about what you can and can't do to and with a rifle, even a .22 rimfire.

There is no aftermarket for the Savage 64. Sorry. I have one, and it is a fine rifle, but if you want a .22 that you can customize, you should buy a Ruger 10/22.

If you want to make a fairly decent accurate rifle buy a Ruger 10/22 and spendtons of money on it. If you want to buy a fairly decent accurate rifle buy a Savage 64f, scope it and you have one. If you want a very accurate rifle buy a CZ

I went down to big 5 and picked it up today. didnt get a chance to go to the range due to range and the lack of 22lr >:/

Just handeling this gun, i am already in love with it.

I am planning on putting a cheaper red dot on it(never been a fan of the tasco scopes that it comes with) and i was wondering if you would recommend getting one that has a dovetail mount, or to get one set up for picadily(sp?) and get an adapter

I believe Picatinny is the word you are searching for. Some .22 scope mounts have a tendency to walk or slide along the dovetail grove. Many have had good luck with a one piece mount like this: http://www.amazon.com/UTG-Profile-Ai...2lr+scope+base

You can order a regular wood stock from Savage, I don't know of any other aftermarket stocks. RimfireCentral.com is another great resource.

thanks for the tip on rimfirecentral. the word i was looking for was in fact picatinny. I was actually looking at those EXACT items earlier today. my question is whether i should go with the dovetail or to get the adapter and run picatinny

If this red dot will only be used on the Savage then it may be less expensive to just buy one made for the dovetail. Using the one piece mount would give you more choices in which scope to use as the weaver base is more common.

At one point Boyds had them for the 64. I love mine. Heavy trigger but it gets lighter with use.

I have a tasco red dot on my ruger 10/22, for $40 you cant beat it. It fits perfectly on the ruger scope mount. Great for plinking and target shooting. Only thing is the dot is kinda blurry, its not sharp like expensive red dots. I have videos of me shooting with the scope and a review on it on my youtube channel, link in my signature below.

Wife has a Savage 64. Accurate and fun to shoot little rifle but there is no aftermarket support for them. A new stock would be nice.
